The World Rainforest Movement is organizing a plantations campaign meeting which will be held in Montevideo on 20-22 June. The aim of the meeting is to discuss and decide a common strategy for the campaign and to agree on a plan of action. The campaign will be officially launched at the end of the meeting.
The agenda includes presentations on countries such as Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa and Chile, which contain some of the more extensive plantations in the South. It will also include presentations on major actors, such as the Finnish forestry consultancy firm Jaakko Poyry, the World Bank and the Intergovernmental Forum on Forests.
